Recently, I had the pleasure of enjoying the 2015 Flower and Garden Festival at Walt Disney World's Epcot. It is truly amazing all the behind-the-scenes work that goes into creating this spectacular showcase. There were many awe inspiring topiaries, but I want to show you one display in particular, the Gardener's Palette. This garden showed a color wheel translated through flowers. In true Disney form, they used this as a way to explain color theory and how you can apply it to your home garden. The same color principles apply whether we are planting a garden or decorating an indoor space. We can use color as an expression of ourselves or to mold how we want a space to look or feel. It can be used to hide or to highlight areas. What a powerful tool color is! One sign said it best, "Color is a powerful visual stimulus that speaks to us and evokes emotion that is felt and understood by people of all ages. By planting certain colors in your garden, you can express a feeling of excitement and joy, or peace and calm. Color can brighten up a dark corner, create depth and add focus to a centerpiece. The garden is a canvas and color allows us to paint our personality throughout it."
Let the beautiful colors of nature inspire you!
